JuMP, a unique, object-oriented, Java-based middle tier management platform, sets Hummingbird apart from all other web-based connectivity products in the market. JuMP is the core architecture of Hummingbird's Thin Client Connectivity solutions and consists of modular components that are based on open, industry standards to ensure interoperability, compatibility and platform independence.

Jconfig Delivers On A Promise
Jconfig is a powerful Java-based remote configuration tool and the management cornerstone for all of Hummingbird's connectivity solutions. Jconfig is the common management interface for both fat and thin client connectivity, allowing administrators to remotely access and configure any desktop.

Robust Security
JuMP provides secure firewall traversal with integrated SOCKS technology. SOCKS is a proxy mechanism that transparently passes data across the Internet or extranet to an enterprise host within a local network ,while retaining the integrity of the firewall.

Security is also provided through SSL (Secure Socket Layer) that transparently initiates a secure TCP/IP connection. A private connection to the JuMP Server is made with Triple DES (168-bit in North America only) or DES (56-bit) encryption and ensures the integrity of business-critical information and applications between a user's desktop and a Linux or UNIX host.

High Performance Design

X Proxy Manager
Advanced, scalable load balancing capabilities for co-ordination of multiple X Proxy Servers eliminates server bottlenecks. Exceed Web's lightweight X display can be downloaded on demand and cached, for conserved network bandwidth and resource efficient desktops. Administrators can preset the maximum number of X Proxy Servers allowed to run on a JuMP Server, guaranteeing user connection responsiveness.

Thin X Protocol (TXP)
Exceptional performance on LANs, WANs and dial-up connections with automatic network packet flow sensing and display-side rendering. Packet flow sensing reduces the amount of traffic transferred between the X display applet and the X Proxy Server decreasing network bandwidth use. The overall performance of Exceed Web is enhanced with display-side rendering that relieves the X Proxy Server load while taking full advantage of desktop processing power when displaying graphically intensive applications.

Multiple X Displays
Managing access to multiple remote environments simultaneously is easy with Exceed Web's multiple X Display support. Exceed Web also supports the popular startup modes XDMCP (Broadcast, Query, Indirect), REXEC, RSH, RLOGIN and Passive for simple integration into any networking environment.

With SSL V3.0 support in Exceed Web, controlled and secure user access to business-critical applications and information across the Internet or extranet is ensured. JuMP now supports Solaris and HP-UX, harnessing the power of UNIX to deliver greater scalability and support for more users per server. As with the Windows NT version, JuMP can be scaled via JuMP Add-ons to support an expanding network with virtually automatic configuration.

Expanded Platform Integration
The new Enterprise Toolkit for JuMP enables third party JavaTM 2 applets to be developed and tested in a segregated environment, then distributed to users via the JuMP middle-tier management server. The various types of Java applets that can be deployed by JuMP include graphical user interface applets, automation applets and existing customer applets.
